Abstract：The homothety conjecture says that if a convex body is homothetic to one of its convex bodies of flotation, then it is an ellipsoid. We confirm this conjecture in R^2 for symmetric convex bodies close to the disk. On the other hand, we show that in R^2 the conjecture fails if the symmetry assumption is dropped. Joint work with M.
