Abstract：In this talk, I consider the Cauchy problem for the isentropic Euler equations with relaxation near the isothermal regime. I present a result on the global existence of large smooth solutions when the relaxation time is sufficiently small. Under an appropriate time scaling, I establish error estimates for the convergence of the large-density solutions of the Euler equations toward the solution of the porous medium equation as the relaxation time tends to zero. A key step in proving these results is a uniform estimate of a quantity related to Darcy's law.
